"This is the true joy in life, the being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one…the being a force of nature instead of a feverish, selfish little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy."
- George Bernard Shaw

Meet Christine

Christine Gust, MBA, Doctor of NaturopathyThe path of my journey did not occur to me in one, brilliant flash of insight. Yet, in reflection, I can see that my course has connections, as you will likely discover about your own travels to fulfillment.

I spent 15 years as a Human Resources (HR) manager in several Fortune 500 organizations in Houston. I specialized in recruiting and employee relations, supporting managers and employees through challenging times, not unlike ones many people are experiencing today.

I worked with managers and employees to resolve conflicts, discipline employees for policy violations or performance problems, or terminate them if the situation called for it. As a company, we had to protect ourselves legally, and our policies and procedures seemed fair.

Yet, something nagged at me. Why didn’t employees perform well or behave according to management’s expectations and policies? What was underneath these noncompliant behaviors? Disciplining them or putting them on a performance improvement plan seemed like it was treating the symptoms, although I didn't use that wording back then. I just knew that it didn't seem to work effectively in most cases. The process was punitive and disempowering for the affected employee. Sure, the unacceptable behavior stopped or the employee seemed to try harder to meet performance standards, but they didn't become high performers or actively engaged in their work.

I wanted to have honest conversations with professionals and learn what was really going on, so I could better help them. This is one of the main reasons I chose to leave my career in HR.

I also wanted to delve more deeply into facets of human nature and completed a Doctor of Naturopathy degree, which taught me about herbs, nutrition, homeopathy, iridology, Chinese medicine and related modalities. I began to formulate a stronger understanding of the correlation between nature, health and human behavior. With this wholistic framework, I discovered the importance of careers that propel people to freedom, not limit it. I recognized the tremendous value of working from the heart and the importance of living and working in closer alignment with the cycles of nature, which frees up energy to really create one’s dreams.

Whether working with groups or one-on-one, by combining expertise in business, human resources and natural health, I teach professionals how to create work that works for them so they can contribute fully without draining themselves.
