frequently asked questions

Q: Why do you call yourself a Workforce Naturopath?

A: I have worked as a Human Resources (HR) manager within large organizations and have an MBA and a Doctor of Naturopathy. I combine my knowledge and expertise in these fields to contribute to the overall health and success of individuals and companies.

My focus is to align the needs of managers and those of their employees, transforming counterproductive habits and behaviors into healthy, sustainable practices that positively impact everyone and their ability to meet the goals of the company.

Q: When would someone use your services?

A: I work with managers, HR professionals, and individuals when there is a need for a confidential resource with no ties to the company.

Because I am a neutral confidante and have expertise in HR and natural health, company personnel can come to me and discuss issues honestly before they escalate. They are more likely to share honestly when they know what they’ve shared will not be learned by others.

And, because I understand the roles, relationships, and boundaries between managers, HR, Legal, and Employee Assistance Programs, I know when it's appropriate to advise and encourage employees to use internal channels to resolve issues.

Q: How do you differ from other coaches and consultants?

A:  I've been on the other side--- frustrated by working long hours and a demanding workload, feeling trapped in my career, and wanting more satisfaction from my work. This, combined with my employee relations background gives me firsthand knowledge and an understanding of business cultures, workplace dynamics, policies, and practices. Therefore, I can offer realistic, practical guidance relevant to the challenges that managers and employees face.

Most importantly, I offer a wholistic approach for addressing the missing link between employees' health, satisfaction and performance on the job with the goals of an organization.

Q: You talk about a wholistic approach. What is that?

A: A wholistic approach means assessing your entire situation, including what you're doing, how you're doing it, and the environment you're doing it in. It considers your health, habits, relationships, needs, interests, values, and goals and takes all this into consideration for optimal productivity and well-being.

Q: How do you use a wholistic approach with your clients?

A: By focusing on the areas (see previous question) above and symptoms you're experiencing, I can determine where the real issues are and where to direct your attention. Then, I teach you how to use your symptoms as important clues for addressing the underlying cause(s) to which these symptoms alert you.

Together we assess your work situation to determine contributing factors and underlying cause(s) regarding your job and work environment and determine what can be changed or eliminated to improve your situation.

You'll also learn practical steps to resolve issues and healthy habits as you work, so you can perform your best without draining your internal reserves.

Managers who understand this wholistic approach can apply these principles to get employees engaged and performing their best.

Q: Do you prescribe remedies for symptoms?

A: No, I don't act as a health care provider, so I don't diagnose health conditions, provide treatment, or prescribe medication or supplements.

While I take note of your physical health concerns, I also rely on other indicators, such as stress, discontent, and burnout.

The key to thriving is to discover how to transform what you're doing and how you're doing it right where you are using these symptoms as clues.

Q: How do companies profit from using your services?

A: Instead of "fixing" symptoms or problems, I work with employees and managers to address the underlying cause so they don't repeat an existing pattern. Issues get resolved in less time before escalating, freeing up managers and HR professionals to focus on other initiatives that contribute more directly to the company's bottom line.
